The upcoming Fair Funding Review is a golden opportunity to fix the foundations and ensure local government is effectively and efficiently funded, allowing all councils to deliver the vital public services our residents rely on.

The recent policy statement confirmed that the department were going to live up to the promising language around need and deprivation that we heard after the election.

While I understand that not all parts of the sector will welcome the elements of redistribution within the upcoming settlement, it is a matter of fact that the system is not currently matching funding with need in an efficient manner.
