'Poorest councils have faced larger cuts' - Yorkshire Post front page covers SIGOMA analysis

Our analysis showing the disproportionate cuts suffered by the most deprived authorities received significant coverage this week. The Yorkshire Post splashed with our analysis on the front page on Thursday.

The article highlighted the disparity between cuts seen in Braford (28%) and Surrey (8%). These are two councils at either end of the deprivation scale. The article also set out our diagnosis of why this has happened - reduction in grant and increasing reliance on local taxes. Wealthy areas like Surrey are able to raise far more than places like Bradford with local taxes like Council Tax and Business rates.
